Tanduay Announces “First Five” 2011 and National Tour.

Tanduay Distillers Inc., a winning name with 157 years of rich heritage in the liquor industry, once again launches the biggest nationwide tour in the country on Friday, March 25, 2011, in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
Tanduay continues to provide a wide array of world-class spirits from rhum to wine, to brandy, gin and vodka, and simultaneously with the tour, will be launching a whole new range of products that will cater to the discriminating taste of the young market. Proven by its 131 international awards, Tanduay is characterized by excellence and innovation that no other brand can claim.
Already on its 5th year in Music Marketing and 3rd year for the Tanduay First Five tour, the brand was able to create a new consumer base by allowing young drinkers to experience the full-bodied flavor of Tanduay for themselves and appealing to them through live concert events — making Tanduay a fixture in the Filipino’s celebration of life, at both grand and simple gatherings among friends.
Once again, Tanduay will make it happen as the legacy continues.

Tanduay First Five is every rocker’s dream! It is a mythical team of the Philippine rock scene, a line-up that sets the standard and everyone waits.
The Power of Five, A League of One : This year’s tour slogan took off from what Tanduay started in the past two years. It is the power of five bands in one rock concert tour, supported by the Number One Brand, Tanduay. And it is time to bring it to the next level.
This year’s campaign will be presented like a series of short films. It’s like our very own movie trailer of the country’s best rock artists, preparing for the concert tour. Bands were styled in classical 1950′s ‘goodfellahs’ gangster outfits, reinforcing their “astig” image and standing as rock icons. The story of the TVC revolves around our lead bands as they prepare for the concert tour, coming from the different parts of the nation. Raimund Marasigan of Sandwich, who will grace the “Tanduay First Five” for the 3rd time, acts as the scribe that calls out to other bands through a message saying simply, “It’s Time.”
A mysterious messenger next delivers the note to Parokya ni Edgar, one of the new, surprise recruits for this year’s tour, and then followed by Chicosci another returnee. The message is then passed to Wolfgang, another new band in the tour and the last stop for the scribe would be Kamikazee.
“The power lies within the hands of a select few,” say the campaign lines. ”Passion, commitment, loyalty and a genuine love for music and country. This is Tanduay Rhum’s elite. The country’s top bands, in the best nationwide tour there is. The Power of Five. A League of One.”
For the 3rd time, Tanduay brings together the biggest line-up of bands ever assembled in Philippine Music History. “A league of extraordinary gentlemen”, it’s Tanduay’s “First Five.”
Sandwich, the group that brought us the hits “Two Trick Pony,” “Sugod” and “Betamax” will surely bring the audience to alternative rock bliss with their signature type of pop rock. Chiscosci’s pop-punk and emo music also add a different vibe on the concert mood with hits like “7 Black Roses” and “Diamond Shotgun.” Wolfgang will unleash its own brand of anarchy through its signature heavy metal hits, from its wildly successful six albums, that the audience will surely enjoy headbanging with. Kamikazee, known for its classic pinoy rock, mixes their music with comic antics on stage to show the lighter and fun side of rock. Parokya ni Edgar on the other hand will surely bring in the beloved sound that has made them the “Pambansang Banda ng Pilipinas”, as they perform their popular novelty rock hits like “Harana,” “Picha Pie,” “Buloy,” and “The Yes Yes Show.”
The ‘Power of Five’ is nothing short of a true casting coup: A distinct status that will elevate every member of the Tanduay First Five to Rock Icons. They will be united as “A League of One”, under one banner as the First Five. The line-up further reflects and reinforces the brand’s standing of being the country’s Number One Rhum. With this powerhouse line-up, the tour just got bigger and louder for 2011, as the bands rock out at 30 key cities and venues nationwide.
According to Tanduay’s Andres Co, “We owe it to our loyal consumers. This is our way of thanking them for their continued patronage. We will let them experience our new products and at the same time enjoy music with their friends and family.”
The 2011 Tanduay First Five Nationwide Concert Tour is projected to be the loudest, biggest and most anticipated tour in the country. It promises to be the most talked-about series with Wolfgang after being away for 6 years; the young rock fans will finally meet their idols for this much awaited comeback. Parokya ni Edgar, one of the most popular bands in the land will add fun and excitement for the tour together with Kamikazee. Returning for the 3rd time, Chicosci and Sandwich will complete the cast and showcase their own kind of rock music with new songs for their fans to enjoy!
